PUT SOCIAL MEDIA ICONS CLEARLY ON YOUR BLOG
Your website should display all your main social media icons on it clearly, so that people can follow your business on Facebook or Twitter or LinkedIn.
…BUT DON’T OVER DO IT!
However, there is evidence to show that you can go overboard with this approach. Research has found that swamping each blog post with dozens of icons can simply result in people becoming bewildered and not clicking on any of them.
The optimum number of icons you really want is three. So essentially, you need to do some research to find which platform most of your customers are the most likely to use.
BREAK YOUR BLOGS INTO BITE SIZE PIECES FOR REPOSTING
If you have got an old blog with some valuable snippets in it which can be cut up, think about re-using them as bullet points or short posts.
Buffer is a tool which can share posts across a range of social platforms, with differing service levels depending on whether you use the free version or the paid for option.
This is a good way of making small, relevant points, facts or quotes appearing, without necessarily being part of a longer piece or spamming people completely with never ending links.
REPOST BLOGS WITH A FRESH TITLE AND GRAPHICS
Once again, Buffer can be used here to launch posts onto social media platforms, but you can of course also repost entire articles using this.
Remember, not everyone is going to have read your blog piece on ‘Bathroom Grouting Solutions’ the first time around. Think about changing the title of the piece around i.e. “Top Grouting Tips” or “Five Best Ways To Tile A Bathroom”. Include fresh graphics to give it a lift.
USE WORDPRESS SHARING AUTOMATION
As we have mentioned, it is a good idea to put social sharing buttons and icons on your WordPress blog. And like we said, you don’t want to put too many on because it may actively turn away your readers. But also, an overuse of plugins on your WordPress page may slow it down and nothing kills a blog or website faster than a slow reload speed.
However, you do want to turn on one or two of them for maximum impact.
FIND A BLOGGER GROUP ON FACEBOOK AND JOIN IT
Facebook has many groups of bloggers on it and we urge you to browse and join some of them.
Undoubtedly you will find someone else doing the same thing as you and in the same physical location to you. It is useful just to see what works and what does not and what other people’s approaches are to blogging.
Also, it might be fun!
BE NICE TO OTHER BLOGGERS
Remember, play nicely out there. Generally, most bloggers are going to be friendly because they want you to read their blog as much as you do yours. You can make friends with others in your field and be mutually beneficial for each other,
Remember social media is supposed to be social!
